Our operation is based in a small Rural town called Fairlie, in the central part in the South Island of New Zealand.
Typically, most international flights from the United States arrive in Auckland City at the top of the North Island and a connecting flight to Christchurch is required, with Christchurch being your destination to begin your Hunting Adventure.
Pick up is at 8am on the first morning of the Hunt, pick up location can be anywhere in Christchurch, although we recommend arriving a day earlier than the hunt date, we can also arrange to pick you up from the Airport if that was preferred.
If you choose to arrive early, we do recommend the
Commodore Hotel as an option near the Airport, or
Rydge’s Latimer as a more central City location. Both are very comfortable and relaxing environments.
We will then take the 2.5-hour drive south to our Hunting Location, once we arrive, we will get everyone settled into their own room, the rooms each contain a full King size bed, (or two singles if required). Each room has its own ensuite and small kitchenette including coffee machine and fridge.
We then all meet at the lodge, this is where we enjoy our Meals, Refreshments and great Hunting Stories!
We will take you through our pre hunt Health and Safety induction as we enjoy a light snack and beverage. After this we then head to the Rifle Range and get everyone Familiar with their rifle of choice, even if you have brought your own Rifle, we will still require you to fire at least two rounds to ensure no damage has happened in transit, this will also familiarize your guide with your set up.
By this time it’s ideal to go into the field for an afternoon hunt, from this point onward, all animals are fair Game on our hunting area, although we recommend you take a good look around first you are welcome to take any species at any stage of your hunt, if you like the animal and the price, get it done!
Day two, three and four will start with an early breakfast and we aim to be in the field at daybreak, a freshly packed lunch will be provided. Typically, we find a nice spot with a great view to enjoy our lunch rather than returning to the lodge to maximize our hunting opportunities.
We offer our clients a complimentary water bottle at the start of the hunt. All tap water at the Lodge and Chalets is very good for drinking, also the Alpine fed streams in the hunting area is also beautiful water to drink, just ask your guide if you have any concerns.
We return to the lodge every evening, a good time to freshen up and enjoy some pre dinner snacks, beverages and good hunting stories before enjoying a freshly prepared home cooked meal, followed by more good stories.
On the last day of the Hunt, we once again start with breakfast, typically at a more relaxed hour unless there is some unfinished business on the mountain.
After we have settled up and enjoyed a light lunch that day we pack up and make our way back to Christchurch for the afternoon drop off, this can be directly to the Airport or to any Christchurch Hotel of your choice.
On our way to Christchurch we call by our Taxidermist to deliver your trophies and discuss mounting or expedite options, Dion and Katie Coleman are the owners of Coleman Country Taxidermy, you are welcome to discuss option prior to your hunt, contact them at colemancountrytaxidermy@gmail.com
